Ron Breitwisch, KC0OX

Ron Breitwisch has held an Advanced Class license since 1971. Prior to beginning a medical leave in March 2008, he was the Chief Engineer of Rockwell Collins' Aeronautical Satellite Communications System (SATCOM). This system supports airborne ACARS, ISO 8208 (X.25) and TCP/IP data communications, plus digitized voice communication for both pilots and passengers on board Air Transport, business jet, and military aircraft.

His Amateur Radio activities are:

  • Iowa District 6 West Emergency Coordinator (appointed 1999)
  • Emergency Preparedness Director of the Cedar Valley Amateur Radio Club (CVARC).
  • Amateur Radio TCP/IP address coordinator for the state of Iowa.
  • Operates TCP/IP host KC0OX-1 (IACID).
  • Operates two NETROM nodes in the Cedar Rapids area.
  • Operates the 147.210 MHz and 444.375 MHz voice repeaters in Marion (local coverage).
  • Enjoys a 123 foot tower with a bunch of antennas in his back yard.
